In our previous post we deployed the new Email Address Policy, generated a unified communication certificate and changed the Exchange URLs to reflect the new shared SMTP namespace. In Part 5, we will be dealing with the below points:

  • Handling Cross-Forest Autodiscover Queries
  • Publishing the new Exchange URLs on ISA\TMG

For the purpose of illustration, I will be using ISA to publish the new Exchange URLs. But conceptually, ISA is not much different from the way TMG works.

Configuring SMTP Namespace Sharing between two Exchange Forests – Part 4

In Part 4 of this series we will be going through the below three tasks:

  • Creating Email Address Policy for Shared Namespace
  • Procuring & Installing Unified Communications Certificate
  • Configuring new Exchange URLs in both Domains

At the end of this post, we will have users in both the Forests exchanging emails based on their new primary email address. Internally the mail clients will be configured to communicate over the shared SMTP namespace. The External Client access and Cross-forest Client access will be discussed in the forthcoming posts related to this series.
